The Rónay Villa in Csobánka—today often referred to as the Szálasi Villa—is one of the Pilis Hills' most remarkable historical landmarks. The building is significant not only from an architectural and local historical perspective, but also because it became closely associated with the history of Hungary's far-right movement during the Second World War.
Did you know that Hungary is home to approximately 1,500–2,000 castles, manor houses, and villas, yet only a small number of them have had their stories presented to a wider audience?
The mission of Hungarian Villas is to create concise yet informative introductions to selected castles, manor houses, and villas, while showcasing their history through professional photography in an engaging and visually appealing way. The initiative also aims to build a close-knit community of people interested in architectural heritage, creating opportunities for new connections and collaborations.
The project was founded by Dániel Csorba, a YouTuber producing real estate-related content with more than 100,000 followers across various social media platforms; Dániel Vitáry, who works to support and develop start-ups; and Noémi Vizi, a PhD candidate at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of the University of Szeged.
Our aim is to share the fascinating stories connected to these remarkable buildings and to present both their past and their present. Our collection will feature not only 18th- and 19th-century properties but also 21st-century villas as architectural landmarks of the modern era. We are committed to diversity, professionalism, and accessibility, which is why our articles are also available in audio format.
