Geréby Manor Hotel and Equestrian Courtyard

On our journey from Budapest to Kecskemét, we discovered the Geréby Manor, located in Lajosmizse. The surrounding park forest immediately captivated us, and we felt as though we had arrived at an island of tranquillity. As we began exploring the estate, we were amazed by how many hidden treasures we encountered. The manor house, built in an eclectic architectural style, was constructed at the end of the 19th century. Its builders were the Gremsperger family, who received a noble title and coat of arms in 1840 and later changed their name to Ötömösi Geréby. The founder of the estate, landowner Gyula Ötömösi Geréby, began working with horses and established a stud farm. His daughter Katinka moved to Argentina, and therefore there was no one left to bring life back into the estate. The building became abandoned, and its condition deteriorated rapidly. However, the manor was renovated in 1986. Since then, its owners have managed the estate for nearly 40 years and have continued to welcome guests.

The estate covers an area of 50 hectares, of which 7 hectares are open for visitors to explore. The love of horses remains very much alive today, as the manor also operates as an equestrian centre. For horse enthusiasts, it is a true paradise, offering the opportunity to spend their leisure time riding during their stay. Those who prefer a more relaxed experience can also enjoy a horse-drawn carriage ride. Continuing our walk, we reached the chapel, the wedding ceremony venue, as well as the football, basketball, beach volleyball and tennis courts. After discovering so many sporting opportunities, we decided to choose the more relaxing option and visited the wellness area. Fortunately, we were blessed with beautiful sunshine, so we also had the chance to take a dip in the swimming pool, listen to the birdsong and experience the peaceful closeness of nature.

The estate is also an excellent venue for events, whether it is a wedding, a family celebration, a corporate team-building event or a conference for up to 450 guests. They promise high-quality services and complete event management, which we were able to experience ourselves as visitors. The following day, we visited Kecskemét and took a walk through the city centre, making our weekend programme complete. For those seeking relaxation close to nature, the Geréby Manor Hotel and Equestrian Courtyard is an excellent choice.
