Esterh\u00e1zy Castle of Szentl\u0151rinc<\/h1>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-9351a8c e-con-full e-flex e-con e-parent\" road running through Szentl\u0151rinc stands the former Esterh\u00e1zy Castle, which today houses the local mayor\u2019s office. Surrounding the building is a beautifully maintained park evoking the atmosphere of Baroque gardens. Trees, shrubs, winding pathways, tranquillity, and a pleasant atmosphere welcome visitors. Next to the L-shaped building stands a church, where the sound of the bells seems to transport us back into the past.<\/p><p class=\"translation-block\">According to historical sources, the castle was built by Szigfrid Krist\u00f3f Prayner (Breiner) between 1696 and 1717<sup>1<\/sup>. Originally, the single-storey building contained one dining room and four rooms. The estate later came into the possession of Prince Mikl\u00f3s \u201cthe Magnificent\u201d Esterh\u00e1zy, who made it the centre of his lands<sup>2<\/sup>.\nHis name may be familiar because of the Esterh\u00e1zy Palace in Fert\u0151d, which he commissioned and built. He was captain and later commander of the Hungarian Royal Bodyguard in Vienna, as well as a field marshal, and played an important role in the wars during the reign of Maria Theresa. Therefore, he needed a residence befitting his rank.\nThe Esterh\u00e1zy family is considered one of the wealthiest aristocratic families in Hungary. One of its wings was demolished, for example, due to the construction of the church.\nThe surrounding garden was once filled with fruit trees and kitchen garden plants<sup>4<\/sup>. The dining room opened directly onto this small paradise. The park was destroyed as trees were cut down, and the land was divided into plots and sold.<sup>5<\/sup>\nAccording to an article published in the Dun\u00e1nt\u00fali Napl\u00f3 newspaper in 1995, the building was then functioning as a student dormitory, and the renovated property was officially handed over<sup>6<\/sup>.
