class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The Lauber name is primarily known in architectural circles, yet the family made remarkable contributions not only to architecture but also to brick and tile manufacturing and the world of sports. In this article, we introduce the Lauber family and the villa in P\u00e9cs that bears their name.<\/p><p class=\"translation-block\">The Lauber family played a significant role in the history of P\u00e9cs. Rezs\u0151 Lauber was one of the owners of the P\u00e9cs United Suburban Savings Bank while also operating a successful roof tile and brick manufacturing business<sup>1<\/sup>. These thriving enterprises enabled him to provide a high standard of living for his family. Together with his wife, Franciska Beck, they raised seven children. Three of their sons pursued careers in the construction industry. Lajos became a master tinsmith, while Viktor learned the brick manufacturing trade and eventually took over the family business after their father's death. Viktor was also an accomplished athlete, competing in events such as shot put, skating, horseback riding, and cycling. Their third son, Dezs\u0151, became an elite sportsman, achieving outstanding success in cycling, including winning the Hungarian National Championship, while also excelling in several other sports. His competitive career was cut short by a training accident, after which he devoted himself to sports administration and became an influential figure in the Olympic movement. He also played golf and gained recognition as a football player, football referee, and Olympic tennis competitor. His achievements extended far beyond sport, as he also established himself as a distinguished architect. Among his many accomplishments, one of the most notable was designing a stadium together with Alfr\u00e9d Haj\u00f3s in 1924 for the Olympic Art Competitions, where they received the silver medal, as no gold medal was awarded. His son, L\u00e1szl\u00f3 Jen\u0151 Lauber, gained recognition through his architectural achievements, particularly within professional architectural circles. He graduated as an architect in 1926 and was already regarded as one of the most talented members of his generation. He worked as a teaching assistant at the Budapest University of Technology, and his first major completed project was the Excelsior Service Station at 71 Feh\u00e9rv\u00e1ri Road in Budapest. This was followed by the elegant apartment villa he designed at 9 Marczib\u00e1nyi Square. Together with architect Istv\u00e1n Nyiri, he established a joint architectural practice, designing numerous villas, apartment buildings, and office buildings<sup>2<\/sup>. During the Second World War, their office was destroyed by bombing, and following the nationalization of private enterprises they were required to join state-owned design institutes<sup>3<\/sup>, which significantly limited their creative freedom as architects.<\/p><p>For more than a century, the name Lauber has stood for perseverance, outstanding professional achievement, and lasting contributions to construction, architecture, and sport. This two-storey residence, featuring Mediterranean architectural elements, also includes a cellar and a tower. It offers breathtaking views of the Mecsek Hills and P\u00e9cs\u2019 iconic landmark, the TV Tower. Following several years of extensive renovation, the building reopened in 2021 and now welcomes guests with five elegantly appointed rooms. Inside, visitors are greeted by refined elegance, while outside the cheerful birdsong creates a peaceful atmosphere. The garden features a swimming pool, sun loungers, and a charming terrace\u2014perfect for friendly conversations or quiet relaxation.
