Telbisz Mansion and Estate in Magyarb\u00e1nhegyes<\/h1>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-9351a8c e-con-full e-flex e-con class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"translation-block\">Continuing our journey through the south-eastern part of the country, we discovered Magyarb\u00e1nhegyes and the Telbisz Mansion. The area may have already been inhabited before the Hungarian conquest, as archaeological finds testify. Until the middle of the 15th century, it was known as B\u00e1nhegyes<sup>1<\/sup>. The origin of the name can be traced back to J\u00e1nos Mar\u00f3ti, the Ban of Macs\u00f3. The prefix \u201cb\u00e1n\u201d refers to his title, while \u201chegyes\u201d \u2013 as is often the case in the Great Plain, where even a larger mound can be considered a \u201cmountain\u201d in name \u2013 refers to a meadow used for haymaking. Thus, the area was regarded as the meadow belonging to the ban. Later, King Matthias Corvinus donated B\u00e1nhegyes, Battonya, Dombegyh\u00e1z and Kupa to his mother, Erzs\u00e9bet Szil\u00e1gyi. After her death, these lands were inherited by Matthias Corvinus\u2019s son, John Corvinus<sup>2<\/sup>.<\/p><p>The story of the creation of Magyarb\u00e1nhegyes is the following: in 1860, due to the heavy burden of compulsory labour (robot), 900 farmers escaped from Nagyiratos and established the village of Magyar-B\u00e1nhegyes in Pusztab\u00e1nhegyes, which belonged administratively to Mez\u0151kov\u00e1csh\u00e1za. They marked the foundation of the settlement with their official seal. Four years later, it was recognised as an independent settlement. Geographically, the former B\u00e1nhegyes cannot be considered the birthplace of today\u2019s Magyarb\u00e1nhegyes, as the new settlement was established directly next to it.<\/p><p>Moving forward in time, the next important milestone was 1903, when four smaller outlying estates were annexed to Magyarb\u00e1nhegyes: H\u00e1ri, Mandel, Telbisz and Vert\u00e1n. This significantly increased the size of the settlement, which gained extensive surrounding lands. Traces of this history can still be found today. Unfortunately, we were unable to find information about the previous and following generations, but it is certain that his father was also a landowner. Ottom\u00e1r was born in 1884, and after completing his agricultural studies, he moved to Magyarb\u00e1nhegyes in 1906. From 1908 until his death in 1918, he managed the family estates<sup>3<\/sup>. He held several influential positions, including membership in the county administrative committee, the representative body of Magyarb\u00e1nhegyes, the board of the \u0150scsan\u00e1d Savings Bank, and the board of the Magyarb\u00e1nhegyes Savings Bank and Trading Company<sup>4<\/sup>. Two rooms are located on the ground floor and three on the upper floor, two of which open directly onto the terrace above. The view is beautiful at every time of day, overlooking the trees and the surrounding canopy. Regarding the interior spaces, each entrance has its own hallway and corridor, leading to the living room and the lounge. An open marble fireplace creates an even more atmospheric environment, while the burgundy-coloured seating furniture reminiscent of the historical period and the crystal chandelier enchant both residents and guests. Several rooms feature stoves and decorative fireplaces, while the mansion itself is heated by a modern central heating system. The wooden kitchen furniture was specially designed for the building, and the kitchen appliances were integrated into the space. The result is an elegant yet natural atmosphere that perfectly matches the character of the mansion.
